应中科院边缘海地质重点实验室(MSG)孙珍研究员的邀请，美国路易斯安那州立大学PeterD.Clift教授、Tara 博士近日访问了南海海洋所，MSG科研人员、研究生共20余人参加了报告会。

Peter D. Clift 教授领导的团队近年来主要开展红河、珠江和长江的沉积物物源同位素变化研究，本次访问Clift作了题为Climatic versus Eustatic Controls on Sediment Flux to the Indus Submarine Fan, Indian  Ocean” 和“Evolving River Systems and Climatic Conditions in Controlling the Fill of Sedimentary Basins on the Eastern Flank of the Tibetan”两个报告，Tara 博士作了题为”Landscape response to climate variability in the Upper Indus catchment” 的报告。Clift的报告内容详实、深入浅出，各种定年和地球化学证据互相印证，得出新颖观点。报告会后，MSG科研人员与Clift教授就红河、珠江和长江随着青藏高原隆升发生支流袭夺过程，开展了热烈讨论和交流。

Clift是国际著名的地质学家、南海海洋所的客座教授，擅长综合利用地球物理和地球化学方法解决构造问题和沉积物源问题。
